Today officially kicked off Budgeting and “Strategic” Planning Season aka 4 months of hell. In lieu of this fabulous season, I’d like to share a few of my favorite things:
1. For 4 months people will use the excuse, “I’m in budgeting” to not answer emails, not meet deadlines and put a hold on any pending projects. What do I call this? BULLSHIT. If you can’t multitask you don’t deserve to have a desk job, let alone work in the industry.
2. Being asked by the BDA what my 2009 budget is. Isn’t that something they should be proposing? In addition, I wouldn’t need to spend 4 months planning if I knew what my budget would be.
3. Cookie cutter presentations I’ve seen ad nauseam. You know I’ve seen it. In fact, I set the precedent for presentations. So, mix it up. Take it to a new level. Be bold. Be different.
And a random favorite… “Graphic Designers” who can’t open .eps files. Seriously?! Our Strategic Partnerships and Promotions Manager can do this. May I remind you she has NO experience with Adobe Suite products.
