Fail Harder

Upon browsing the new W+K website, I ran across their Wiedenisms. This one was my favorite:

Fail Harder

My dad used to say this too, but it was Fall Harder for every time we went water skiing. It was some of the best (and favorite) advice I got as a little kid. What my dad meant was, if you’re tired or ready to “cut”, just don’t fall, fall HARD. He meant that if you’re ready to quit, then that’s a perfect, “risk-free” time to try something new or scary. Admittedly, that advice provided me with some pretty nasty (and fun) spills. The crazy part? I never felt bad about falling. In fact, I felt exhilarated. Not to mention learning to take risks without fear of falling (or failing) made be a stronger, better and more-well rounded water skier.

Needless to say, it’s advice that can be carried into any situation. It’s one I’ve carried with me both personally and professionally throughout the years.
